The 21-acre Renton site is across from a residential and entertainment development known as "The Landing" near the south end of Lake Washington. The land is owned by Boeing Co., and Bennett began negotiating with Scott Carson, the president and CEO of Boeing's Commercial Airplanes division, last fall.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I think Renton is actually an optimal place for the Supes. I think the fan base there will be more appreciative than the one the Sonics have had over the years. Also, I'm glad it won't add more traffic to the 520 bridge by being in North Bellevue ;)

I agree. The nice thing is that they're just a few minutes from the Eastside (and the wealthier fan base), and still close enough for Seattle corporate suite subscribers. But not being in downtown Seattle or Bellevue means it'll be easier for South Sound residents to get to the stadium. Maybe not the best for Everett and those north of Seattle...but hey, at least the Sonics will be free from the Key Arena.

As a longtime Seattle-area resident, it's pretty amazing to see Renton developing so well. They're part of that ultra hot development area south of Lake Washington, they're building the much buzzed about Landing (a urban, mixed use, village style shopping area)...and they already have the Northwest's only IKEA. I never thought I'd see the day when people would actually WANT to move to Renton!

I don't think that day has come *yet*, but I know what you mean. Renton has come a long way since way back in the day, when a buddy of mine who had just moved there said to me "I live in South Bellevue". ;)
