Curtis High School Junior Isaiah Thomas set a Washington State preps record by scoring 51 points in a game against Franklin HS in the 4A boys basketball semi-finals, but it wasn't enough as the Quakers surged past the Vikings for a 80-76 win. Thomas broke the 1955 record for most points scored in a tournament game, previously held by Bob Beckel of Walla Walla. With 129 total points and one game to go, the 5'9" dynamo also passed up Adam Morrison (2003, Mead) and Jeff Brown (1989, Mead), who both scored 127 in their respective tournaments.

"I have never seen a more impressive display of heart and desire," said Franklin coach Jason Kerr, hoarse and still shaking his head in disbelief. "I may just have to resign now."
